my response:
The part of the image that drew my eyes to first was the woman in the centre of the photograph holding a paper over her face with another face drawn on top. I think it caught my attention because I think she is the main object/thing in this picture. This photo was taken around the 20's because this woman is wearing clothes that were worn around the Victorian time. Also the surroundings are plain but in the photo there is a Queen or a Princess. In my opinion and what I see it is Queen Elizabeth looking at least in her 20's which was in 1967, that means this photo could have been taken in the 1960's. There is no evidence if it was taken by a man or woman. This photograph makes me feel curious about what this woman's face looks like underneath the sheet of paper. I also feel like being brought back in time, because this photo is in black and white. The simplicity of the photo makes you focus on the woman. I also feel intrigued by how it looks like she is trying to show different faces. The picture covering her feet looks depressing, yet classical and self-concerned. I find interesting how she is hiding her face. It looks like it could be because of a religious reason, or she is hiding her past, or her face because maybe there's something wrong with it, but she could also be having different roles as a person or different personalities. She may be hiding her inner-self and acting how people want her to act, not as she wants. I like how the photograph is black and white, because if it was colored it wouldn't make you focus as much, and it would create a different type of mood; for example if it was in red shades it would give the impression that she could be somebody very bad like a serial killer and keeping it as a dark secret. I would ask the photographer: Why did you cover her face and feet? I think I would name the photograph "Deep Impressions."
